Local service
Prospect sits just north of North Adelaide, and Prospect Road is its spine: cafés, the cinema, the old shopfronts, and behind them the leafy side streets that give the suburb its reputation. The housing is mostly 1920s and 1930s bungalows with tiled roofs and return verandahs, a scattering of older stone villas towards the city end, and newer two-storey townhouses on subdivided blocks closer to Main North Road and Churchill Road. Families who have renovated, couples who have just bought in and a steady run of renters share the same streets.
Inside a Prospect bungalow you will usually find original baltic pine or jarrah boards that someone has sanded back and polished, which means almost every room has a rug on it. A large machine-made rug anchors the lounge, a runner softens the central hallway, and a flatweave or synthetic rug goes under the dining table where the kids eat. The renovated homes with a rear extension tend to add a second big rug on tiles or concrete in the open-plan living area. We clean all of those in your home. Prospect also has its share of genuine hand-knotted Persian pieces bought from dealers over the years, and those we do not clean; we will tell you straight and point you to a specialist rug laundry.
Cream and oatmeal rugs are popular in these homes because they suit the boards, and they show every mark: red wine from a Saturday night, coffee carried back from the Prospect Road strip, the grey smudge where a dog settles on the same corner each evening. Hallway runners take the grit from front gardens and the leaf litter from the street trees, and a dark path forms down the middle. Dining rugs collect dropped food that gets trodden in before anyone notices. Most of these rugs have never been properly cleaned, because owners worry about what water will do to a polished floor.
The floor is the first thing we look after. Our hot water extraction pass puts the cleaning solution in and pulls it straight back out, so the boards underneath stay dry, and we lift the rug before we leave to check. Dark hallway tracks lift well with a pre-spray and a couple of extra extraction passes. Wine and coffee that have set get our heavy stain treatment at +$30, and if a stain has actually dyed the fibre we will tell you before we start rather than after you have paid. Rugs are dry in two to four hours; prop one edge on a chair and the lounge is back together by evening.

Prospect questions
Yes, that is how we do most Prospect jobs. The extraction keeps moisture low and we check the boards before we go. If you would rather, we carry the rug to a tiled area or out to the verandah and clean it there instead.
No. Hand-knotted wool and silk rugs need a specialist rug laundry, and we would rather say so than risk a piece like that. We are happy to clean the machine-made and synthetic rugs in the rest of the house during the same visit.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
