Local service
Mawson Lakes was planned from scratch and built out from the late 1990s through the 2000s, so unlike most of the north it has almost no old housing at all. Instead there are two- and three-storey apartment buildings along Mawson Lakes Boulevard and around the lake, rows of townhouses on narrow lots, and courtyard homes on slab in the quieter streets. The UniSA campus and Technology Park shape who lives here: students in share houses, young professionals, international families, and plenty of people who rent rather than own.
Nearly every Mawson Lakes home is built on a concrete slab, with large-format tiles or floating boards through the living areas and carpet confined to bedrooms. That leaves a rug as the only soft surface in the main room, and in an apartment it might be the only rug in the whole place. Medium rugs, around 1.6 × 2.3 m, are the common size because the living rooms are compact. Student share houses lean towards cheap polyester rugs from the big retailers, while owner-occupiers in the courtyard homes often have a better quality machine-made rug and a hallway runner. All of these are the synthetic and cotton types we clean in place.
Share-house rugs cop spilled drinks, late-night noodles and the general wear of three or four people and their friends, and they are usually cleaned once: just before the bond inspection. Renters with a small dog in a townhouse find that a rug on tiles becomes the dog’s favourite spot, and the smell builds. Apartment rugs by sliding doors collect fine dust blown off the surrounding plains in summer. Rugs laid directly on slab with no underlay can also trap moisture in winter and develop a musty smell nobody can quite place.
In an apartment or townhouse we clean the rug where it sits, since there is rarely a yard to move it to, and our extraction leaves the tiles or boards under it dry. Low moisture matters on a slab, so we keep the pass tight and recommend lifting one edge for airflow. Spot stains from drinks come out as part of the standard clean, and if a rug smells of dog we add the enzyme treatment. Most rugs here are dry in two to four hours. Our minimum booking is $89, so one rug on its own is fine, and we can usually fit a small job into an evening slot before 7pm for people who are at uni or work all day.

Mawson Lakes questions
One rug is fine. The minimum booking is $89, so a single medium rug is covered. Most apartment jobs take under an hour, and we bring everything up ourselves; there is nothing you need to prepare except moving anything light off the rug.
Synthetic rugs on tiles are usually dry in two to four hours, so a morning booking gives you a dry rug by the afternoon. Book us the day before the inspection rather than the same morning, and if a stain will not fully come out we will tell you before we start.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
