Rug cleaning in Woodville, SA 5011

Woodville runs either side of Woodville Road and Port Road, with the train station and Woodville Town Hall marking the middle and the Queen Elizabeth Hospital just to the south. The blocks were laid out for families, so the housing is mostly double-fronted bungalows and solid post-war brick on generous land, and a lot of it is being renovated or extended as a new generation buys in. It is a working suburb: nurses on shifts, tradies, young families and the older couples who built here.

Original floors here are pine or hardwood boards under decades of carpet, and the first thing a renovation does is pull the carpet up and polish what is underneath. Then the rugs arrive: a large rug under the new lounge suite, a runner down the central hall that every one of these houses has, and a play rug in the room that became the kids’ space. Extensions at the back are usually tiled or polished concrete with an open-plan rug. Unrenovated homes still have carpet with a rug protecting the walkway. Nearly all of them are machine-made synthetic rugs, and we clean them in place.

Renovation dust is the Woodville problem no one expects. Sanding floors, knocking out a wall or re-plastering puts fine dust into every rug in the house, and it does not vacuum out fully. Freshly polished boards also make people nervous about getting a rug wet, so the clean gets put off. Hall runners show a dark centre path from the front door to the kitchen, and the lounge rug under a new couch gets the first red wine and takeaway curry of the house-warming. Older residents often have a rug that has sat in the same spot since the house was built, with sun-fade on one half and ground-in grime on the other.

We vacuum both sides thoroughly first, because that is where the renovation dust sits, then run a hot water extraction pass with low-residue products and rinse it back out. On polished boards we keep moisture low, extract immediately and lift the rug before we go to check the floor. Curry and red wine respond to the heavy stain treatment at +$30, and we will tell you honestly if the dye has taken before we start. A large 2 × 3 m rug is $139. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours; a hall runner with the front and back doors open is dry quicker than that.

Woodville questions

Asked in Woodville

We just had our floors polished. Is it safe to clean the rug on them?

Yes, provided the finish has fully cured, which your floor sander will have told you. We use low moisture and pull the water straight back out, then lift the rug to check the boards before leaving. If the finish is only days old we would rather clean the rug outside on the concrete or wait a week.

The hall runner has a dark path down the middle but no actual stains. Can that come out?

That is traffic soil, which is oil from feet mixed with grit, and it usually lifts well with a pre-spray and extra extraction passes. If the pile itself has worn flat the path will still show a little in the texture even when clean, and we will point that out before we start.

Services & guides

How it works

Our 5-step in-home rug clean

  1. 1

    Check the rug

We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.

  2. 2

    Dry vacuum both sides

Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.

  3. 3

    Pre-treat

A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.

  4. 4

    Hot water extraction

Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.

  5. 5

    Groom & dry

Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.

Questions

Straight answers

How much does rug cleaning cost in Adelaide?

We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.

Do you clean rugs in my home or take them away?

In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.

What kinds of rugs do you clean?

Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.

How long does a rug take to dry?

Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
