Local service
Henley Beach sits between the Esplanade and Tapleys Hill Road, with Henley Square and the jetty at its heart. The housing reads street by street: 1920s and 1930s bungalows with return verandahs, 1960s brick on wider blocks, and more two-storey rebuilds each year a street back from the sand. Families, dog owners and people who have retired here keep the same habit of walking to the square and carrying the beach home on their feet.
Rebuilds here are tiled or floated-timber downstairs with a rug under the lounge and another under the dining table, often a 2 × 3 m or larger cream synthetic because it suits the light coastal look. The bungalows still have their original boards, so there is a runner in the hall and a rug in the front room. Kids’ bedrooms get a shag or a printed playroom rug, and the back door almost always has a rubber-backed mat for wet feet. Nearly every one of these rugs is polypropylene, polyester or cotton, which is exactly what we clean in place.
Cream rugs and a beach do not mix well. Wet sand tracks across the lounge rug after a swim, dries, and leaves a grey tide-mark path from the back door to the couch. Dogs come back from the dog-friendly stretch of beach damp and salty and lie straight down on the rug, so pet smell builds up over a winter. Sunscreen transfers from skin to pile and attracts dirt, which is why the patch where people sit on the floor goes dark first. In the older homes the hall runner has simply absorbed decades of foot traffic and looks tired rather than stained.
A cream polypropylene rug responds well to hot water extraction, and the grey sand track usually lifts in one or two passes with a pre-spray. We vacuum both sides first so the sand that has sunk to the backing comes out, then extract and rinse so no residue is left to catch the next day’s grit. Where a dog has claimed the rug, the pet urine and odour treatment at +$40 uses enzymes to break the smell down rather than mask it. A medium bedroom rug is $99. With a morning booking and the windows open to the sea breeze, most rugs are dry well before the kids are home from school.

Henley Beach questions
Yes, in most cases. Damp dog and salt build up in the pile and backing over time. We pre-treat with an enzyme product that breaks the odour down, then extract it with hot water rather than perfuming over it. If the backing has been soaked through repeatedly we will tell you what to expect before you pay anything.
Sand is abrasive, so it wears pile over years, but a clean rug sheds it far better than a dirty one because there is no sticky residue holding it in. Vacuum slowly from both directions every week and shake the smaller rugs outside. For a cream lounge rug near the back door, a rubber-backed mat outside saves the rug.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
