West Lakes · SA 5021
Lakeside homes from the 1970s and 80s, the newer streets on the old stadium site, and rugs that live on tiles — in-home rug cleaning across West Lakes.
Grit, stains and pet smells — lifted out of the rug, not covered up.
Local service
West Lakes was planned around its lake, with the rowing course down the middle, canal-front homes built through the 1970s and 1980s, and Westfield West Lakes as the shopping centre everyone orbits. The newest streets sit on the former Football Park site, where townhouses and apartments have gone in beside the original single-storey brick homes. Owners who bought in when the suburb was new are now neighbours with young families and downsizers from elsewhere in the western suburbs.
Those 1970s and 80s homes were built with tiles or slate through the living areas and carpet in the bedrooms, and a big rug on the tiles is how people make the lounge comfortable. Many have since swapped tiles for floating boards and kept the rug. Waterfront homes have an outdoor area facing the lake with an indoor-outdoor rug under the setting, and a kayak nearby that brings lake water and grit through the house. In the new townhouses it is a single large rug in an open-plan room and a runner at the entry. We clean the synthetic, machine-made and indoor-outdoor rugs on site; wool pieces we refer on.
Rugs on tiles in West Lakes tend to be big, which means they are rarely picked up and never fit in the car, so they go years between cleans. A rug on cold tiles also traps condensation underneath in winter, and that musty smell when you lift a corner is the result. Outdoor rugs by the lake collect bird droppings, lake water and barbecue grease, and sun-fade makes the dirt more obvious. Grandchildren visiting the original owners bring juice and biscuit crumbs, while the newer townhouses deal with the usual mix of takeaway dinners and a puppy that is not yet trained.
Because we clean in your home, the size of the rug stops mattering. A 2.4 × 3.4 m extra large rug is $179 and gets cleaned on the tiles where it lies, so there is no rolling, lifting or hiring a trailer. We lift it afterwards to check the floor is dry and let air under it. Indoor-outdoor rugs can be cleaned on the paving by the lake and left to dry in the breeze. For rugs that cop regular spills we can add Scotchgard protection at +$30, which gives you a window to blot a spill before it sets. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.

West Lakes questions
Yes, that is the whole point of coming to you. We vacuum, pre-spray and extract the rug on your tiles or boards, then lift the edges to check underneath before we leave. If you have a hard floor outside and would rather it was done there, we can carry it out together, but there is no need.
Often it is condensation that has sat between a cold floor and a rug through winter, which can start mildew on the backing. We look at the back of the rug before we start and tell you straight. Cleaning plus a treatment usually fixes it; if the backing has gone, we will say so.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
