Local service
Unley is one of the inner south’s original villa suburbs, built out before the First World War along the tram and the Unley Road shopping strip. Walk the streets between Unley Road and Goodwood Road and you pass bluestone villas with return verandahs, sandstone-fronted cottages, the occasional 1960s unit block, and a scattering of newer townhouses behind the Unley Shopping Centre. Unley Oval and the Soldiers Memorial Gardens give it a village feel, and the people living here are a mix of established families, downsizers and professionals renting a cottage close to the city.
Almost every Unley villa has been renovated at least once, and the floors tell the story: original baltic pine boards polished in the front rooms, a tiled or concrete extension at the back with a big kitchen and living area, and a long central hall running the depth of the house. A large synthetic or machine-made rug anchors the living space, a runner protects the hall, and bedroom rugs sit on boards or new carpet. Some front rooms hold a hand-knotted rug bought as an investment; we leave those to a specialist laundry and say so. Cotton flatweaves in children’s rooms, shag rugs in teenagers’ rooms and indoor-outdoor rugs under the pergola are all ours to clean.
The hallway is Unley’s problem room. A runner that takes every trip from the front door to the kitchen goes dark down the middle within a couple of winters, with grit from Unley Road footpaths ground into the pile. Living-room rugs catch the fallout from long dinners, and a cream rug near a dining table collects wine, gravy and the occasional candle wax. Families with children at the local schools find playroom rugs full of texta, play dough and dropped yoghurt. Villas sitting low to the ground can be damp underfloor, so a rug on boards in a closed-up front room sometimes smells musty by spring.
We lay out protection and clean the rug in the room it lives in, using hot water extraction with the moisture kept low and pulled straight back out so the old boards are not sitting under a wet rug. Traffic lanes on runners respond to a pre-spray and repeated passes. Set-in stains, like last winter’s wine or wax residue, get the heavy stain treatment at +$30, and we will tell you before we start if something has dyed the fibre for good rather than promising a miracle. Light spots are included as standard. Rugs are usually dry in 2–4 hours, cotton a little longer, and we work 7 days, 7am–7pm, so a Saturday morning before a dinner is no problem.

Unley questions
In most cases it lifts a great deal. The track is ground-in soil rather than a stain, so pre-spray plus extra extraction passes does the work. Where the pile is worn flat, the colour returns but the texture does not, and we will point that out when we look at it.
Yes. We work 7 days, 7am–7pm. An early Saturday slot means the rug is dry by lunchtime and the room is back in use for the afternoon. If there is more than one rug to do, every extra rug in the same visit is 10% off.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
