Local service
Burnside climbs from Greenhill Road up towards the hills face, with Hazelwood Park and the swimming centre on its edge and Burnside Village down on the Glenside side. This is a suburb of large allotments and established gardens: 1920s and 30s bungalows and Tudor-style homes, stone villas on the older streets, substantial post-war houses with sweeping drives, and a smaller number of modern rebuilds where an old house has come down.
Burnside houses have polished timber through the formal rooms and slate or tiles in entries and family areas. Rugs appear in layers: a large piece in the sitting room, another under the dining table, runners in long passages, something soft in each bedroom and often a rug in a study or rumpus room. A good number of the formal-room rugs are hand-knotted Persian, Turkish or wool pieces collected over decades, and those we do not clean — we will tell you so and suggest a specialist rug laundry. The family room, kids’ rooms and the rumpus are where we come in: machine-made wool-look synthetics, polypropylene and shag rugs that take the actual wear in the house.
Gardens on this scale produce leaf litter, mulch and dog hair all year, and the back-door rug collects it. Second Creek and the foothills bring winter damp; a rug sitting on slate in a shaded room can pick up a mildew smell by August. Kids back from the pool at Hazelwood Park drop wet towels on the rumpus-room rug. And long-held homes often have long-held rugs: one that has not been properly cleaned since it was unrolled, grey through the middle, with a traffic line between the kitchen and the television. Because many families here own rugs they have been told are delicate, they assume all of them are untouchable.
We will tell you at the start which rugs in the house we can help with and which need a specialist, so nothing is risked. The ones we clean, we clean in place with hot water extraction that pulls the water back out immediately, keeping slate, boards and underlay dry, or out on the drive if you prefer. Mildew smell gets the mould and mildew treatment at +$40. Big family rooms often have oversized rugs: up to 12 m² is $219, and anything larger is quoted by the metre. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours, thick shag in 4–6. Scotchgard protection can be added afterwards to help the next juice spill sit on the surface rather than soak in.

Burnside questions
Check the label or the back. A machine-made rug has a uniform backing, usually polypropylene or polyester, and we clean those. A hand-knotted wool or silk rug shows the pattern clearly on the back with no glued backing, and we will decline it and suggest a specialist. Send us a photo of the back and we will tell you before you book.
Cleaning with the mould and mildew treatment removes the smell and the spores in the rug, and we extract thoroughly so it dries fast. If the slab itself is damp the smell can return, so we will suggest a breathable underlay or lifting the rug during wet spells.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
