Reynella · SA 5161
Stone cottages in Old Reynella, vines and a chateau on the hill, and 1960s–70s brick across the rest — in-home rug cleaning in Reynella with honest advice on what we can and cannot clean.
Grit, stains and pet smells — lifted out of the rug, not covered up.
Local service
Reynella grew up around John Reynell’s vineyard, planted in the 1830s, and the old village along Reynell Road and around the Chateau Reynella estate still has its stone cottages and the sense of a town rather than a suburb. Fan out from there and you move into the brick homes of the 1960s and 70s that filled the paddocks between Main South Road and the Southern Expressway, with Reynella East a little newer again. Residents are a mix of long-timers who remember the vines and young families who like the old-village feel.
The cottages in Old Reynella have original timber boards or slate, and the rugs on them are chosen for character: a large patterned machine-made rug in the front room, a runner in the passage, a cotton dhurrie in the kitchen. Some have a genuine wool Persian or an old heirloom piece, and that is one we have to point to a specialist laundry rather than clean ourselves. The 1960s and 70s homes have been through the usual carpet-to-floating-floor renovation, and their lounge rugs are large synthetic pieces under the television wall. Many Reynella homes have a verandah or pergola with an outdoor rug too.
Old-village cottages have small rooms and a lot of traffic through them, so a runner wears a dark path quickly and the front-room rug takes red wine from a house that likes its McLaren Vale. Stone and slate floors sweat in winter, and a rug left flat on them without an underlay can develop a damp smell at the back. Across the brick-home streets it is the ordinary family load: dog hair, kids’ spills, the grey patch in front of the couch. Older residents often have rugs that have not been cleaned in twenty years and are nervous about anyone doing it in the house.
We spend the first few minutes checking the fibre, because Reynella is one of the suburbs where a treasured rug turns out to be wool or hand-knotted, and we would rather say so than take the job. For the synthetic and cotton pieces we clean right there in the room with hot water extraction, pulling the moisture back out so slate, boards or floating floor stay dry beneath. Wine and dark traffic paths get the heavy stain treatment at +$30 when needed; light marks are included. A medium rug around 1.6 × 2.3 m, the common size for a cottage front room, is $99. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours, cotton dhurries closer to 4–6.

Reynella questions
We will have a look first. If it is a machine-made synthetic or cotton rug, yes, in your home. If it turns out to be wool, hand-knotted or silk, we tell you straight that it needs a specialist rug laundry and we do not touch it. There is no charge for finding out.
Yes. We keep the moisture low and recover it as we go, then lift the rug afterwards and dry the slate beneath. If there is a damp smell in the backing already, we add a treatment and dry the rug underside-up. We would also suggest an underlay going back down, so the slate can breathe.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
