Rug cleaning across Seaford

Seaford starts at the cliffs above the beach and spreads inland across Seaford Rise and Seaford Meadows, and you can read the decades as you drive: 1980s brick homes near the old Commercial Road shops, 1990s and 2000s streets further up the hill, and new builds with rendered facades toward the railway station at the end of the line. It is a young suburb by Adelaide standards. First-home buyers, growing families, many tradies, and a growing number of holiday rentals close to the sand.

Almost every home here is on a concrete slab, and the floor is tiles or a laminate floating floor rather than timber. That makes rugs essential for warmth and sound, and Seaford lounge rooms nearly always have a large or extra large machine-made rug under the couch. Kids’ rooms get a bright polyester play rug, the hallway a runner over the tiles, and the alfresco out the back an outdoor rug under the table. Holiday lets near Seaford beach tend to have cheaper flatweaves bought to survive guests. Polypropylene and polyester are the fibres we see most, and both clean well in place.

Sand from the beach and dust from the new estates both end up at the base of the rug pile, and on a tiled floor you see every grain that escapes the edge. Tiles also mean a rug slides unless it has a rubber underlay, and a sliding rug wears on the fold lines. Holiday rentals turn over every weekend in summer, so sunscreen, red wine and wet towels hit the same rug week after week with no deep clean in between. Families with a slab floor often find a musty patch where a drink bottle leaked and the moisture had nowhere to go but into the backing.

We clean on the tiles where the rug lies, with hot water extraction that recovers the water as it goes, so you are not left with a damp slab under a damp rug. Rentals get the sanitise and deodorise treatment at +$30, which deals with sunscreen residue and that closed-up holiday-house smell at the same time. For a 2 × 3 m lounge rug the price is $139, and we can fit a changeover between guests leaving and arriving if you book a morning. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours; with the sliding doors open and the sea breeze coming through, Seaford rugs are often quicker.

Seaford questions

Asked in Seaford

We manage a holiday rental near Seaford beach. Can you clean the rugs between bookings?

Yes, that is a common job for us. Book a morning slot on changeover day and the rugs will be dry before afternoon check-in. We clean every rug in the property in one visit, with 10% off each extra one, and we will tell you if a rug has reached the point where replacing it makes more sense than cleaning.

Our lounge rug sits on tiles over a slab. Will cleaning leave moisture underneath?

No. Hot water extraction puts moisture in and pulls it straight back out, and we lift the rug afterwards to check the tiles are dry before we go. If you prefer, we can carry it out to the alfresco or driveway and clean it there, which also lets you give the tiles underneath a mop.

Services & guides

How it works

Our 5-step in-home rug clean

  1. 1

    Check the rug

We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.

  2. 2

    Dry vacuum both sides

Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.

  3. 3

    Pre-treat

A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.

  4. 4

    Hot water extraction

Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.

  5. 5

    Groom & dry

Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.

Questions

Straight answers

How much does rug cleaning cost in Adelaide?

We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.

Do you clean rugs in my home or take them away?

In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.

What kinds of rugs do you clean?

Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.

How long does a rug take to dry?

Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
