Pooraka · SA 5095
Older homes on big blocks between Main North Road, the produce markets and the industrial estates — in-home rug cleaning in Pooraka with a thorough dry vacuum first, because the dust here is real. A 2 × 3 m lounge rug is $139.
Grit, stains and pet smells — lifted out of the rug, not covered up.
Local service
Pooraka shares a postcode with Mawson Lakes but not much else. It is an older, more worn-in suburb: 1950s to 1970s brick and Housing Trust homes on large blocks, pockets of newer units where those blocks have been split, and industry pressing in from Cavan and the Montague Road side, with the Adelaide Produce Markets on Burma Road and trucks on Main North Road around the clock. Dry Creek runs through it. Long-term residents, working families, tradies with a ute in the drive and a rising number of renters make up the streets.
Floors in Pooraka homes are practical: vinyl and tiles in the kitchen and living areas of the older houses, carpet in the bedrooms, polished boards where a renovator has got in. Rugs tend to be hard-wearing polypropylene pieces in dark colours that hide the dirt, a large one in the lounge and a runner at the front door. Rubber-backed mats sit at the back door and in the laundry, and a lot of homes have an indoor-outdoor rug on the verandah or in the shed that doubles as a second living room. We clean every one of those synthetic and rubber-backed rugs in your home or out on the concrete.
Industrial and market traffic means Pooraka rugs collect a heavier grit than most suburbs, and in summer the dust blown in from the north on a hot day is visible on anything dark. Work boots come through the front door with whatever was on the site that day, and a runner shows a black path within months. Dogs are common and the yard is often part dirt, part concrete, so paws bring in both. Tradies’ homes get grease and the occasional oil mark on the lounge rug. A verandah rug left out through winter gets damp and starts to smell of mildew by spring.
We spend longer on the dry vacuum here than almost anywhere, because pulling the grit out before water goes in is what makes the extraction pass work. Then the hot water extraction lifts the bound-in dust, work-site dirt and the dark path from the pile. Grease and oil marks are treated as part of the clean, and a rug that has started to smell gets the sanitise and deodorise add-on at +$30. Outdoor rugs are cleaned on the concrete and left in the sun. Inside rugs dry in two to four hours with a door open, and a 2 × 3 m lounge rug is $139.

Pooraka questions
Most dark tracks are embedded dirt rather than worn pile, and they lift well with a pre-spray and extra extraction passes. Where the fibre is actually worn flat the colour will improve but the texture will not come back. We will tell you which it is when we see the runner.
Yes. Indoor-outdoor and polypropylene verandah rugs clean up well with hot water extraction, and we do them on the concrete where they lie. Mildew from winter damp is treated with the mould and mildew add-on. Any extra rug in the same visit is 10% off.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
