Local service
Paradise sits between Lower North East Road and the Torrens, with Thorndon Park Reservoir and its walking loop on the higher side and Linear Park along the river below. It grew mostly in the 1960s and 70s, so the typical street is a run of brick veneer and cream brick homes on generous blocks, now broken up by two or three newer houses where a block has been subdivided. The O-Bahn interchange makes it popular with commuters, and the park loops draw young families and dog owners.
Inside a Paradise brick veneer you usually find the original layout: a formal lounge at the front, a family room off the kitchen, and bedrooms down one side, with the old carpet replaced over the years by tiles or floating boards in the living areas. A large machine-made rug sits in the family room where the kids and the dog actually live, a smaller one in the formal lounge, and a runner in the passage. The newer builds have hybrid planks across the open-plan floor and one big polyester or polypropylene rug under the couch. All of those we clean in place. The occasional wool or hand-knotted piece we send to a specialist and say so.
Thorndon Park and Linear Park are dog country, and a dog that has done a lap of the reservoir arrives home with wet paws and a coat full of grass seed, straight onto the family room rug. Kids come home from the playgrounds with grit on their shoes. The open-plan family room means the rug sits between the kitchen and the television, so it catches dropped dinner, spilled juice and the odd cup of coffee every week. Dust from the hills settles into the pile over summer. Renters in the older houses often find the rug that came with the lease has a smell they cannot place.
We set up in the family room, protect the floor and clean the rug where it lies, using hot water extraction that pulls the grit, the grass seed dust and the dinner spills out and leaves the pile rinsed rather than sticky. Kids and dogs can be back on it the same day: 2–4 hours drying for most rugs, with a window open. Once it is clean, Scotchgard stain protection at +$30 for a rug up to large size helps the next spill bead up long enough to blot it, which is worth it on a pale family-room rug. We quote the published price before we come and tell you straight if a stain is permanent. Open 7 days, 7am–7pm.

Paradise questions
Yes, and it does more than a vacuum can. Extraction pulls the fine hair and seed dust out of the base of the pile where it collects, and a pre-spray lifts the greasy marks a dog leaves. The rug comes up fresher, and a Scotchgard coat afterwards makes the daily vacuum more effective.
We can. The products are low-residue and child- and pet-safe, and we rinse them out through the machine rather than leaving them in the fibre. Keep the kids off the rug until it is dry, usually 2–4 hours, and they can be back on the floor for the afternoon.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
