Grange · SA 5022
A jetty, a golf course and streets of 1960s brick being rebuilt one block at a time — in-home rug cleaning for Grange, with the price agreed before we arrive.
Grit, stains and pet smells — lifted out of the rug, not covered up.
Local service
Grange is the quieter stretch of coast between Henley Beach and West Lakes, with its own jetty, the Grange Golf Club taking up a good part of the suburb, and the train line ending at the beach. Military Road and the Esplanade carry the holiday-house feel, while the streets inland are 1960s and 70s brick homes on big blocks, a growing number of which have become two-storey rebuilds or pairs of townhouses. Charles Sturt’s old house, The Grange, still sits among it all.
The rebuilds are tiled or timber-look downstairs with a large rug under the lounge, often oversized to fill a wide open-plan room, and carpet upstairs with a rug in the kids’ rooms anyway. Original brick homes have carpet through the living areas and a rug protecting the path from the kitchen to the TV, plus a hall runner on the slate entry. Beach houses on the Esplanade have indoor-outdoor rugs on the deck and sisal lookalikes inside, which are usually synthetic and fine for us to clean. Golfers bring sandy shoes in through the garage, so there is nearly always a rubber-backed mat there.
Grange rugs have the coast’s problems and the golf course’s. Beach sand grinds into the lounge rug after a swim, and bunker sand and fertiliser come in on golf shoes and settle on the garage mat and entry runner. An oversized rug in a wide living room is too big for anyone to lift, so it is walked on for years and goes dull in a path from the kitchen. Salt air keeps rugs slightly damp on still nights. In the older homes a rug that has sat on carpet for decades has flattened pile and a halo of darker carpet around it where the vacuum never quite reached.
Big rugs are no trouble when we come to you. A 3 × 4 m oversized rug is $219 and is cleaned exactly where it sits, on tiles or boards, with the moisture extracted straight back out. We vacuum both sides first to lift the sand at the base of the pile, pre-spray the path from the kitchen, and run hot water extraction with low-residue products so the rug does not go sticky again. Indoor-outdoor and deck rugs can be done on the paving. Our minimum booking is $89, so a single garage mat is better done with a couple of other rugs in the same visit. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.

Grange questions
Yes. We extract with low moisture so the carpet underneath does not get soaked, then lift the rug to let the carpet breathe and check it is dry. You will probably notice the carpet around the rug looks different from the carpet under it, which is sun-fade rather than dirt, and nothing we can clean away.
We need someone to let us in and agree on the price and any stains before we start, so the easiest is to book for a weekend you are there. We work 7 days, 7am–7pm, and tell you what to expect before you pay. The rug will be dry well before you head home.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
