Glen Osmond · SA 5064
Large homes on the slope below Mount Osmond, good rugs on good floors, and an honest line about which ones we clean — in-home rug cleaning in Glen Osmond.
Grit, stains and pet smells — lifted out of the rug, not covered up.
Local service
Glen Osmond climbs from the end of Glen Osmond Road and Portrush Road up the foothills towards Mount Osmond, past the old toll house at the bottom of the freeway. The homes are larger than most of Adelaide’s: stone villas and 1920s bungalows on big blocks near Seymour College, and generous 1960s to 1990s houses further up the slope with views back over the city. It is an established suburb of professionals and families, and the rugs are chosen rather than bought in a hurry.
Because people here buy well, a lot of Glen Osmond living rooms have a hand-knotted Persian or a heavy wool rug on polished boards, and we say plainly that we do not clean those and will point you to a specialist laundry. What we do clean is everything else in the house: the machine-made wool-look rug in the family room, the cotton flatweave in the study, shag rugs in teenagers’ rooms, runners along long tiled hallways and the indoor-outdoor rug on a terrace that looks back over the city. Big houses have a lot of these, and doing them together in one visit is where the value sits.
Hillside gardens on the slope mean mud and leaf litter at every door through winter, and a runner on a long tiled hallway shows the path clearly. Dogs that walk the Mount Osmond trails bring dust and burrs back. Teenagers’ rooms produce spilled drinks and the smell of sports gear in a shag rug. Family rooms with north-facing windows fade a rug on one side while the shaded side holds grime. Entertaining adds red wine on light rugs, and a terrace rug sits out through the heat and the rain. The rugs themselves are good quality, so a proper clean makes a visible difference.
We clean in place on boards or tiles with low-moisture hot water extraction, pulling the water straight back out so the floors stay dry, and lift each rug before we leave to check. Where a house has five or six rugs we work through them in one visit and the price is agreed before we start. An oversized 3 × 4 m family room rug is $219; Scotchgard protection for extra large and oversized rugs is +$50, which is worth it on a light rug that sees red wine. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours, and the ones on the terrace can be cleaned and left to dry outside.

Glen Osmond questions
Hand-knotted Persian, Oriental and Turkish rugs, wool rugs of any kind, silk and viscose, jute and sisal, and hides. They need a specialist rug laundry with full immersion washing and controlled drying, and an in-home extraction clean is not the right tool. We will tell you on arrival if one of yours falls in that group.
Yes, that is the easiest way to do it. Tell us roughly how many and what sizes when you book so we allow enough time, and we will confirm the total before starting. Our sister business, Couch Rescue Adelaide, cleans couches, so ask about doing the couch and the rugs in one visit.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
