Local service
Gawler is a town in its own right, laid out in 1839 between the North and South Para rivers, and it still feels that way: Murray Street with its heritage shopfronts and pubs, the stone churches on Church Hill, and the railway station at the end of the line. The housing spreads out from there in rings, from bluestone cottages and villas in the old town through 1970s and 1980s brick homes in Gawler East and Willaston to newer estates and acreage on the edges, where the Barossa paddocks start. Retirees, long-time locals, tree-changers and young families all call it home.
A stone cottage in old Gawler usually has polished pine boards and a rug in every room: a runner down the long central hall, a large rug in the front sitting room, cotton flatweaves in the bedrooms. The brick homes of Gawler East often still have slate or quarry tiles in the entry and family room with a big synthetic rug laid over the top. Out on the acreage blocks you find indoor-outdoor rugs on verandahs and heavy-duty mats inside every door. We clean the synthetic, cotton and machine-made rugs across all of these; wool and hand-knotted rugs, which turn up in older Gawler homes, we refer on to a specialist.
Dust is the Gawler problem. Gravel driveways, dirt roads on the lifestyle blocks and dry paddocks in summer put a fine red-brown grit into every rug near a door, and it works down to the base of the pile where a vacuum cannot reach. Dogs, and in some households horses, bring in more. Winter in the old stone cottages is damp, and a rug left flat on boards against a cold outside wall can develop mildew along one edge. Fringed rugs collect dust in the fringe itself, and a long cottage hall runner wears to a dark track.
A heavy dry vacuum comes first on Gawler rugs, to lift the loose grit before any water touches it, then the hot water extraction pass to pull out the dust bound into the pile. We clean in place on the boards or carry the rug out to the verandah on a dry day, whichever suits. Fringe and edge detail is a +$20 add-on, worth it on a rug that has collected dust for years. Very large rugs are common in the acreage homes, and a 3 × 4 m rug is $219. Allow two to four hours to dry, a little longer in a cold cottage in July.

Gawler questions
Most of it, yes. The combination of a deep dry vacuum and hot water extraction lifts the grit out of the base of the pile, which is where the colour comes from. A door mat that is cleaned regularly makes a big difference to how long the inside rugs stay clean afterwards.
Often. We lift the rug, check the backing and the boards, clean the rug with the mould and mildew treatment if it needs it, and make sure it dries fully. If the moisture is coming up through the floor itself, we will tell you so you can deal with the cause.
How it works
We read the label or test the fibre, check the backing, the stains and the smell, and tell you honestly what will lift — and whether it is a rug we should be cleaning at all.
Grit sits at the base of the pile and grinds the fibres every time you walk on it. A slow vacuum, both sides, gets it out before anything gets wet.
A pre-spray for the traffic lanes, enzyme for pet urine and organic stains, targeted treatment for wine, coffee and ink.
Heated solution in, dirt and water straight back out in the same pass. Low moisture, so the floor underneath stays dry.
Optional sanitiser or Scotchgard, then we groom the pile so it dries evenly. Most rugs are dry in 2–4 hours.
Questions
We price by the size of the rug. A runner or small rug up to 2 m² is $69, a medium rug (2–4 m²) $99, a large 2 × 3 m lounge rug $139, an extra large rug (6.5–9 m²) $179 and an oversized 3 × 4 m rug $219. Pet urine treatment, heavy stains, Scotchgard and sanitising are optional add-ons from $20–$40, all on our price table. The minimum booking is $89, every rug after the first in the same visit is 10% off, and the price is confirmed before we start.
In your home. We bring a hot water extraction machine to you and clean the rug where it lies, or on a tiled floor, verandah or driveway if you prefer. There is no pick-up, no wash plant and no week without your rug — it is back in use the same day.
Synthetic rugs (polypropylene, polyester, nylon, acrylic), machine-made wool-look rugs, cotton flatweaves, shag and high-pile synthetic rugs, kids’ rugs, hallway runners, outdoor rugs and rubber-backed mats. We do not clean wool, hand-knotted Persian or Oriental, silk, viscose, jute, sisal, sheepskin or cowhide rugs — those need a specialist rug laundry, and we will tell you so rather than risk your rug.
Most synthetic rugs are dry to the touch in 2–4 hours, thick shag and cotton closer to 4–6. We extract as much water as the machine will pull, groom the pile, and tell you how to speed it up — lift one edge onto a chair for airflow underneath, a fan across the surface, and no furniture back on it until it is fully dry. Book a morning slot and you are walking on it that evening.
A 2 × 3 m rug is $139 in Adelaide, cleaned in your home. 7 days a week.
